The Weirdest Backstage Requests From Singers
Musicians, especially the really famous ones, all seem to have specific things that they want to be surrounded by backstage before a performance. Sometimes it’s all about going through a routine for good luck and to improve concentration before hitting the stage. Other times… No one is really sure what reason they have for demanding such weird things be brought to them or not brought to them. We take a look at some of the strangest and quite specific requests some stars have made.
Mariah Carey
She has really earned her reputation for being a complete diva, and with fame like hers, you can understand why. However, she had her support team running around once with a request for vitamin water. This water was not for drinking though, Carey intended to bath her dogs in it.
However, that is not the most outrageous backstage request from the singing sensation. She reportedly once asked for 20 white kittens and 100 white doves. These needed to be delivered to the backstage area before each show. We’re not quite sure what she did with them, but we hope it was cuddle the kittens and release the doves for a spectacular display.
Justin Bieber
He made it big as a teenager and many would say that fame went to his head. According to reports, the young star has strict rules that no one is allowed to speak to him directly. It seems like a rather arrogant request, and that he may think he is above all the people who work on his concerts. However, the real reason is probably closer to the fact that he wants to concentrate and focus on his performance, just like you should do when playing online bingo games in Australia.
Beyoncé
It’s all about the right refreshments and the food for Queen Bey. She loves her chicken for a meal backstage and need to have it prepared just the right way – the words “heavily seasoned” are always in bold or caps, and the hot sauce had better be there too. Then, it’s an absolute no-no for any Coca-Cola products to be backstage at all – especially in her dressing room. The icon has a long-running partnership with Pepsi and she won’t have anything jeopardise that relationship.
Sir Paul McCartney
Who says all divas are women? This Beatles star is all about having the right flora in his dressing room. The request starts with six large green plants that should stand on the floor, but they must be bushy and not show any of the trunk. Then he demands a series of different flower arrangements, starting with white Casablanca lilies. There must also be a large arrangement of long-stemmed white and pale pink roses. Finally, his favourite flowers, freesias, must also be there in an arrangement that has a mix of different colours. All of these arrangements must include plenty of greenery too. One has to assume the singer doesn’t suffer from hay fever or pollen allergies, otherwise he’d struggle to perform after being surround by all of that.
